Contaminant Sampling
& Monitoring Project
In 2002, ELSI and BC WLAP worked with Royal Roads University on a contaminant sampling and monitoring project for the Esquimalt Lagoon. This project involved water and sediment quality testing to determine significant contaminant inputs and to identify potential point and non-point sources of those contaminants. The final report provided the community with a long-term monitoring program and recommended strategies to minimize, mitigate or prevent the entry of these contaminants to the lagoon.
